About Our CEO
For Mrs. Oluseyi Abdullahi, the world of crafts began not as a business idea, but as a simple love for creating things by hand. What started as curiosity and creativity gradually grew into a lifelong journey that has spanned more than four decades.
At a time when craft materials were difficult to find and structured craft training was rare, she immersed herself in learning, experimenting, and developing her skills. Like many pioneers, much of her early learning came through persistence, practice, and a determination to master her craft.
Over the years she expanded her knowledge through further training and exposure to global best practices, including professional training with renowned institutions such as Swarovski and the London Jewellery School.
Her passion for crafts soon evolved into a mission: to make crafting more accessible and to inspire others to discover the joy of working with their hands.
This vision led to the founding of Crafties Hobbycraft Limited, a company that has grown into a trusted hub for craft materials, tools, learning, and creative inspiration.
Through Crafties, Mrs. Abdullahi has helped countless people explore their creativity. Many hobbyists discovered new passions, while others found opportunities to transform their craft skills into income-generating ventures.
Her commitment to craft education has also taken her beyond the classroom and into the public space. For several years she taught crafts on television, introducing audiences to creative techniques and helping many viewers see crafts as something they too could enjoy and learn.
Over time, she observed a recurring challenge: many talented creatives struggled to turn their craft into sustainable businesses. This insight inspired her to dedicate part of her work to supporting Craftpreneurs, tindividuals who build businesses around their creative skills.
Through mentoring, training, and community initiatives, she continues to guide creative entrepreneurs on how to structure their businesses, price their products appropriately, and grow sustainably.
Today, Mrs. Abdullahi remains deeply committed to the development of the craft industry in Nigeria. Through initiatives such as exhibitions, competitions, training programmes, and community building, she advocates for greater recognition of crafts as an important part of the creative economy.
Her journey reflects a simple but powerful belief: that creativity, when supported with the right tools, knowledge, and encouragement, can open doors to opportunity, fulfilment, and meaningful livelihoods.
